The Hoodoo Men

Powerhouse and soulful blues at its best

About

The Hoodoo Men perform powerhouse and soulful blues at its best.

If you are a fan of blues, or its traces in modern music genres, you will not want to miss Tim Stout and The Hoodoo Men, one of Victoria’s leading blues acts.

Singer and songwriter Tim Stout, and The Hoodoo Men, deliver a spell binding journey through the rich diversity of blues and its many sub genres. His powerhouse and soulful tunes range from the rich traditions of swamp, delta, and Chicago blues, through to funk, Latin and soul.

Tim is emerging as one of Melbourne’s leading blues singer / songwriters, with authentic story telling expressed through a range of blues sub-genres. He performs on drums, guitar, and harp. He has been performing over 40 years with the likes of Greg Dodd, Grand Wazoo, and Scott Carne.

His solo album (Tim Stout – Live at MBAS) reached #5 on the Australian Blues Chart in 2022, and the Hoodoo Men album (Found the Blues) was top-10 in 2020.

The Hoodoo Men appear at Melbourne’s leading blues venues. This year Tim has featured (solo or with The Hoodoo Men) at The Espy, Echuca Winter Blues Festival, Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society, Beneath Driver Lane, Hume Blues Club, Way Out West Blues & Roots, Bruthen Blues Inn, Texas Tom’s Blues, and the Rainbow Hotel. He also performed in The Commitments Review, Slatsapalooza, and opened for Jimi Hocking and Blues Roulette.

Tim is joined by Leigh Vial on bass and Richard Bennett on drums. Richard is a master drummer. He has backed Broderick Smith, John English, Lisa Edwards, and Robert Lockwood Jnr – the only guitarist to learn directly from Robert Johnson.
